A video about how to install a Home Elevator in your living room by a very well known American YouTuber went viral last month and it has now been viewed almost eight million times on the video sharing site. (originally published 09/10/2018)
Zack Nelson, better known as JerryRigEverything online, has gained fame for his technology reviews and has 3.9m subscribers on his DIY YouTube channel.
His video ‘How to Install an Elevator in your LivingRoom!’ was published on July 22 and reached #11 on Trending and has now had 7,997,078 views on YouTube.
Zack, 31, had the Home Elevator installed in the house he shares with his fiancee, Cambry Kaylor, who is a paraplegic. Cambry was an international equestrian vaulting star and suffered a spinal cord injury after falling from her horse in a training accident in 2005.
The couple were searching for a mobility solution that would enable Cambry to move safely and independently between floors, as at the moment Zack has to carry her upstairs. They film the entire installation process of a Homelift – which is large enough to accommodate Cambry’s wheelchair in the video – and full of humor but also packed with tech insights about the lift.
Zack writes in the YouTube video preview: “Cambry and I put an Elevator IN OUR HOUSE!! And it is awesome. Fully electric, futuristic, and quiet. It turned out pretty cool.”
Once the Home elevator is in place, Cambry – who also lists herself as an occupational therapist on her Instagram page with over 30,000 followers – rides it for the first time and says: “I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s like I’m in a spaceship or submarine or something. It’s cool and looks awesome!”
Zack said he was going to make a video of the installation with an authorized installer in Utah for his YouTube channel. The video is absolutely brilliant and has to be the most viral video in the mobility and independent living industry in history!
